Libyan court permits ex-dictator Gadhafi's son to run for presidency

Libya's High National Elections committee had barred him citing his role in violence to suppress protestors during Gaddafi's regime.

CAIRO: Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, a son of the late Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi was disqualified by Libya’s High National Elections Committee, citing past convictions linked to using violence against protesters. he had appealed the ruling.

Seif al-Islam was sentenced to death by a Tripoli court in 2015, he is also wanted by the International Criminal Court. A court in the southern province of the country ruled in favour of him beside the court being surrounded with armed men to prevent the judges from entering,
