Minister inaugurates maize purchasing center

Express News Service @ Nirmal Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Wednesday inaugurated a maize purchasing center at Wadyal village in Laxmanchanda mandal. The centre was set up by Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS). Stating that the government has fixed Rs 1,425 per quintal as the Minimum Support Price for maize, the minister asked farmers to sell their produce at government procurement centers. He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao opened these centers to avoid the role of middlemen and appealed to farmers to utilise them. He added that the centers would be constructed in the villages at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh. This year, the government is expecting 70,000 tonnes food grains to reach market which would be procured through 11 centers of PACS and IKP. Joint Collector Ch Shiva Lingiah and other officials participated in the event.
