Thiruvananthapuram: Two mobile phones, sim cards and chargers, used by accused in the sensational T P Chandrasekharan murder case, have been seized in a raid conducted at the Poojapura central jail here.

These were seized from the cell of Annan Sijith, an accused serving imprisonment in the Chandrasekharan murder case and Pradeep, who is serving life imprisonment in another case, Jail sources said.

The raids were conducted from 6 pm to 8 pm yesterday after a senior official received information that Basit Ali, another accused in the Chandrasekharan murder case, was using mobile phones inside the prison.

When he was questioned, he said he had been using the mobile phones given by the other two accused.

Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services R Sreelekha visited the prison today. She later told reporters that two mobile phones have been seized. "We will definitely probe how the phones landed inside the prison", she said.
