12-year-old boy stabbed to death inside school premises

The incident happened all of a sudden and without any  provocation.

KOZHIKODE: A 12-year-old boy was today stabbed to death inside the premises of a school near here, allegedly by a person who is suspected to be mentally unstable, police said.

The boy studying in the eighth standard at the government-aided school in Madavoor, about 21 km from here, was walking with some other students at 8.30 am when the man pounced on him and stabbed him with a knife, they said.

The incident happened all of a sudden and without any  provocation, police said.  

People rushed to the spot on hearing the screams of the children and caught hold of the man, who tried to flee,  and handed him over to the police.

The boy died on the way to the Kozhikode medical college hospital.

The man, who hails from Kasargod district, was staying near the school and is suspected to be mentally unstable, police said, adding, he has been taken into custody. PTI COR
