THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Close on the heels of the CPI state executive meeting coming out with a resolution claiming that the Law Academy strike was a major success, criticism was raised against the CPI at the CPM secretariat. The secretariat that met on Friday, however, decided not to go for a public spat against the CPI but to raise the issue in the LDF.
Sources said criticism came up against the CPI for playing into the hands of the BJP in the Law Academy issue. Party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had openly come out against the BJP while warning other parties not to fall into their trap. The secretariat is likely to discuss the issue again during its meet on February 17. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is on a three- day official tour abroad was not present at the meeting.
In the resolution, the CPI congratulated the students who participated in the Law Academy protest.
It also said a new principal with adequate qualification has to be appointed as per the agreement reached in the conciliatory talks chaired by the Education Minister. The resolution added the anomalies in awarding internal marks should also be settled.
