Passengers stage protest against late running Venad Express at Kottayam station

The passengers were protesting the late running of the Train No. 16302 which takes hundreds of passengers including government and private sector employees.

Venad Express, one of the major trains running between Thiruvananthapuram with Shornur via Ernakulam was blocked by agitating passengers at Kottayam railway station on Thursday morning.

The passengers were protesting the late running of the train (16302) which takes hundreds of passengers including government and private sector employees.

The train which was scheduled to reach Kottayam at 8.05 am, arrived almost one-and-a-half hour late  at 9.24 am. Following this, a section of passengers got into a heated argument with the officials who decided to halt the train at the station. Though the train started after 30 minutes, some of the protesters staged a sit-in on the tracks. However, it finally left Kottayam station at 10.30 am.

Meanwhile, a similar scene followed at Ettumanur station where the passengers reportedly gheraoed the station master.
