APSET notification on March 19, exam on July 30

Test will be in the pattern of National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC

VISAKHAPATNAM: Notification for the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) - 2017 will be issued on March 19 by Andhra University which is conducting the test on behalf of Government of India on July 30. The test will be based on the pattern of National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC.
Addressing newsmen in the senate hall here on Wednesday, Andhra University vice-chancellor G Nageswara Rao informed that the test will be conducted for the recruitment of the assistant professor or lecturer posts in government colleges and universities in AP in 31 subjects for which UGC had granted permission.

The test will be conducted in six regional centres Vizag, Rajamahedravaram, Guntur, Nellore, Anantapur and Tirupati. On the pattern of the test, the VC said that the syllabus will be as prescribed by UGC-CSIR and UGC-NET for Paper I (100  marks), II (100 marks) and III (150 marks) and have no negative marking.

Paper I which is common for all the candidates will be held in bilingual (English and Telugu), while for paper II and III, some subjects like Commerce, Economics, Education, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology and Social Work will be in bilingual.

The registration fee for APSET-2017 for general category is `1,000, BC: `800; SC/ST/PH/VH is `500. Registration for the test would be only through online application and fee should be paid through credit card or debit card or net banking. On the occasion, APSET member secretary K Srinivasa Rao said that there were around 45,813 who appeared for the test last year, while 2,981 got qualified with highest percentage of marks in Telugu and science subjects. The lowest per cent was in Linguistics and Mathematics. “This year we are expecting more applications than what we received last year. Meanwhile, while we applied permission for 36 subjects, we have got only for 31,” said the VC.
