VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party MLC G Deepak Reddy from Anantapur district in AP has been suspended from the party. A decision to this effect was taken by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the party coordination committee meeting at his residence in Undavalli near here on Thursday.
The decision followed Deepak Reddy's arrest in Telangana for his alleged involvement in a landscam there. Deepak Reddy happens to be son-in-law of Anantapur TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy.
The chief minister at the party meeting, also decided to constitute three member committee to study and report back to him in about three days on why his cabinet colleagues Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Ch Ayyanna Patrudu were quarrelling in the open, lowering the image of the party.
Of late, both the ministers have locked their horns after Ayyanna Patrudu made insinuations against Srinivasa Rao that he had played a role in the land scam in Visakhapatnam district. Taking a serious
exception to this, Srinivasa Rao dashed off a letter to the chief minister requesting him to refer the issue to the CBI.
The chief minister had already ordered constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the land scam and submit a report to him for taking an appropriate decision after placing it in the
cabinet.
