In Congress' Working Committee meeting held earlier today, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, has offered his resignation as the party president.

After weeks of speculation over his next move, post the debacle of losing the Congress home turf of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh to BJP Union Minister Smriti Irani, by over 55,000 votes, the news was confirmed today by Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala.

While UPA ally members are upset over the verdict and have asked Rahul to change his mind multiple times, the Congress Chief remained adamant and stuck to his decision.
