Upendra-starrer Uppi Rupee goes on floors from today in Mysuru. The film directed by K Madesh has Rachita Ram playing the female lead and paired opposite the actor for the first time.
The filmmakers revealed the hero’s first look in Uppi Rupee and gave us a hint of the character Upendra would be playing, and it seems interesting. The actor, in a hippie do, has experimented with colourful clothes and his hairstyle.
“Uppi will be playing an anti-hero in the film,” Madesh tells us, “and we made sure that it is conveyed through his get up”. The director, in his last interview with City Express, had said that the film will explore the effects of demonetisation and that Uppi will be seen as a common man. The director had also mentioned that only Upendra can play the role to perfection, and fit the script.
“He is the hero of our film, but to the audience, he will be portrayed as the villian,” says Madesh, “This is the twist in his character, it will be a different role that the actor is experimenting with.”
Rachita Ram’s role is also one to look forward too. She is playing a bank employee in Uppi Rupee. Sadhu Kokila is also in the cast.
In the movie, the anti-hero Uppi will be seen fighting against many antagonists, including the roles played by Jagapathi Babu, Ravi Shankar, Rangayana Raghu, Shobraj and Sharath
Lohitashwa. “We have approached Jagapathi Babu and the actors will be joining us in the next schedule,” he says.
The film produced by Vijayalakshmi Urs will be shot in places such as West Indies, Canada and Thailand.
The film has music by Sadhu Kokila and cinematography by Rajesh Katta.
