A student of class VI, Sheik Khaja Moinuddin, wants to be a doctor, but between getting, up at 5 am every day to filling water to studying in an Urdu medium school, it seemed like his dreams wouldn’t materalise. Thank God for his grandmother, who realised the importance of a good education and enrolled him in school. This enabled him to discover and explore several fields. To help several other students showcase what they have learnt, a Teaching Tree Carnival, an initiative by K Raheja Corp’s Teaching Tree along with Teach For India, will be held on January 20.
This event will be held at Mindspace’s Central Recreation Garden (CRG) and will behold creations from students. “The endeavour of our CSR initiative, Teaching Tree, since the start, has been about empowering students from the poorer sections of society. While education is at the core and we are working towards doing away with education inequality, a carnival like this opens doors to a new world for these students,” says Vishwas Dhumal, CSR Head at K Raheja, Corp highlighting the aim of the event.
From a stall that displays photographs taken by students to the one where students tell you a story based on your prompts — you will find it all in this one-day event. There are also workshops and interactive sessions where students will dance, act and do whatever it takes to showcase their talent. “The carnival is intended to let the students have a good time, while allowing them a chance to showcase their skills, bolster their confidence, and feel appreciated. We are sure anyone who comes to this carnival will take a piece of the students’ art (and heart) back with them,” added Dhumal.
