NEW DELHI: Now, automobile owners can pick accessories they wish fixed in their cars from the comfort of their homes online. All you need to do, according to Maruti Suzuki, is inform the showroom when you want to pick up the car.
To begin with, Maruti Suzuki will offer this facility for its semi utility vehicle (SUV) Vitara Brezza, where a customer will get an option to choose from 90 accessories specially designed and developed for this car and also 500 standard Maruti Genuine Accessories.
With this service, customers can mix and match combinations to create their own signature VitaraBrezza, using its customised software iCreate. So far, limited customisation was possible and customers had to choose from a package.
“iCreate is a revolutionary concept being introduced in India for the first time. It provides a platform which enables one to personalise a car which reflects his/her individuality,” said R S Kalsi, ED, Sales & Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL).
“The new generation is looking to make a highly personalized statement through the things that they interact with. The same is true for automobiles,” says Kalsi. Driving a personalized car, a big trend internationally, is largely non-existent in India. “Our internal study shows that a customer’s spending on accessorising their cars has gone up in the last few years. From Rs 3,000 per vehicle five years ago, spending has increased to Rs 10,500 per car. In the case of Vitara Brezza, the average spend on accessories is around Rs 24,000,” Kalsi added.
Customers can check vehicles virtually through the iCreate option online, compare available options and select them before proceeding with the final personalization. Customers can also choose to personalise the vehicle while booking, and drive home a personalised vehicle. This can be done across all 670 Maruti Suzuki dealerships. “VitaraBrezza enjoys a market share of 20% in its segment right now,” he said.
